Matthew Sion Jones is a born and bred Welshman, 21, from Colwyn Bay in North Wales. He has been involved in racing from a young age and always had a passion for the speed and thrill that racing brings. He started his own racing career in 2009 after watching his dad and older brother race when he was younger. He rode in the Wirral 100 on a Kawasaki ZXR400 before moving up onto a 675Triumph in 2010. In 2011 he rode the latest Triumph machine in the Triumph Triple challenge series in the British superbikes. As this was his first year in the British Superbikes support series this was a learning year, learning the tracks as well as a new bike. He had some really great results, just missing out on the points table. In 2012 Matt had decided to go back to a Kawasaki, to which he had first learnt to ride on and decided to compete in the Superstock 600s. For his pre-season testing Matt entered the Thundersport Pre-National 600 and won his first two races by over 10 seconds passing everyone up to 10th in the race! He also got the lap record for this series at Brands Hatch! When the season started Matt had a positive start, qualifying for every race which was his main aim for this year. As the season went on, injuries and finance meant that Matt had to stop racing before the end of the 2012 season was over. In 2014 he finished 4thFormula 600 Wirral 100Championship, in 2015 he made a move to his first 1000cc bike and finished 2nd in Wirral 100 powerbike championship and 3rd in Wirral 100 senior open championship. In 2016 he secured his first championship in Wirral 100 powerbike and won Wirral 100 senior open championship. In 2017 he took a step back from racing due to being unfit to ride, but will be back in 2018 on a new zx10r
